Job Description
A bookkeeper generally works within a company’s in-house accounting department, focusing on the day-to-day financial transactions. They may also work as part of a team at an accounting firm that handles company ledgers for multiple clients to ensure accuracy and compliance with finance law. This role focuses on documentation and processing for all types of financial transactions.
Enter financial data into spreadsheets and accounting software
Record and process daily financial transactions, including AP, AR, invoices, receipts, and payments
Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts
Review financial records and identify discrepancies; research and resolve errors
Prepare periodic financial reports (daily, weekly, monthly)
Assist accountants with month-end and year-end closings
Manage payroll data entry and assist with payroll processing
Organize financial documentation and ensure all records are up to date
Support the accounting team with administrative tasks as needed
Ensure all bookkeeping practices comply with US accounting standards and company policies
Requirements
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related field preferred
- Associate degree or high school diploma may be accepted with relevant experience
- Certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (AIPB) or QuickBooks Certification are plus points
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and data entry skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently during US time zones
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
- Customer-service mindset when interacting with vendors or internal teams
- Familiarity with payroll accounting and basic financial principles
- Proficiency in MS Excel and bookkeeping/accounting software
