Job Description

Drew University is seeking a Building Engineer - Boiler Plant in the Facilities Department. This is a full-time, 40-hour a week position. Employee will be responsible for the continuous, reliable and safe operation of all University building hot water and low-pressure steam boiler plants and associated heating systems.

 Key Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure 24- hour safe, effective, and economical operation of all single and multi-fuel fired water and/or fire tube boilers and auxiliary equipmentacross University’s buildings and the central steam heating plant.
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance for the University’s building heating systems, responsible for completing all tasks properly and on-time to ensure continuous and reliable system operation.
  • Adjust fuel feeds and the volume and velocity of draft and other fire box variables to optimize combustion efficiency as load demands and fuel quality fluctuate.
