Role Overview
The Business Analyst (BA) will support product management and delivery of a Property & Casualty Policy Administration System (PAS). The role focuses on detailed business analysis, requirement elaboration, configuration support, and testing, ensuring that insurance products and processes are correctly implemented in the PAS. The BA works closely with Product Owner, Development and QA teams, acting as a functional translator between insurance business needs and PAS capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Requirements & Analysis
Elicit and document detailed requirements for:
Product setup (LOB, coverages, deductibles, limits)
Policy lifecycle processes (quote, issue, endorse, renew, cancel)
Claims
Create and maintain:
Feature Traceability Matrix
Functional Specification Document
Functional Test Cases
2. PAS Functional Support
Support configuration of insurance products in PAS, including:
Rating factors and premium calculations
Underwriting rules and referrals
Policy workflows and validations
Claims workflows and validations
Work closely with developers
3. Insurance Domain Support (P&C)
Provide functional expertise across P&C lines such as:
Motor
Property / Fire
Liability
Marine / Engineering
Support regulatory requirements such as:
IRDAI norms
64 VB compliance
GST applicability
4. Development Support
Clarify requirements during development and testing.
Assist Product Owner in:
Backlog grooming
Requirement prioritization
5. Testing Support
Design and execute functional test scenarios
Validate executed test cases against acceptance criteria.
6. Integration Support
Define functional requirements for integrations with:
External data sources (KYC, vehicle/property data)
Insurtechs
Required Skills & Experience
Insurance & Domain
Strong understanding of P&C insurance products and policy lifecycle.
Experience working with underwriting, claims and policy servicing teams.
Familiarity with insurance compliance and regulatory needs.
PAS & Systems
Hands-on experience with at least one PAS:
Guidewire
Duck Creek
TCS Ba NCS
Insurity or similar
Understanding of:
Product configuration concepts
Rating engines
Workflow orchestration
Business Analysis
Expertise in:
Requirement elicitation and documentation
Test cases and acceptance criteria
Process modeling (BPMN / flow diagrams)
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Clear communication with technical teams.
Attention to details in documentation
Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Insurance, or Business.
Insurance certifications
BA certifications
