Job Description

The Business Analyst role focuses on deeply understanding university workflows, documenting precise requirements, and ensuring implementations match agreed business outcomes across CRM/SIS ecosystems like Salesforce, Slate, Ellucian, and PeopleSoft.

About EDMO

EDMO is a pioneering AI-powered educational technology company transforming higher education through intelligent automation. EDMO specializes in Document intelligence, Conversation intelligence, and Agentic AI systems that streamline admissions, transfer credit evaluation, and student engagement for US universities.

Our Culture

  • Growth mindset with continuous learning and skill development.
  • Innovation first, using AI and modern platforms for smart solutions.
  • Excellence in quality while moving with speed and agility.
  • Impact measured through improved student and institutional outcomes.

Position overview

The Business Analyst acts as the bridge between client stakeholders, product, and engineering for specific implementations and features. This role is responsible for requirements elicitation, process mapping, gap analysis, and acceptance validation—not roadmap ownership.

Key responsibilities
  • Engage with US university stakeholders (admissions, enrollment, IT, CRM/SIS admins) to gather and clarify business requirements through workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions.
  • Translate business needs into detailed user stories, functional specs, and acceptance criteria for engineering and QA teams.
  • Map current-state and future-state processes across CRM/SIS and EDMO (e.g., Salesforce ↔ Slate/Ellucian ↔ EDMO workflows), identifying bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
  • Perform gap analysis between institutional requirements and EDMO’s product capabilities, recommending configuration vs. customization paths in partnership with Product Management.
  • Create and maintain artifacts such as process flows, data mapping documents, integration specifications, and business rules catalogues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for requirements clarification for engineering during sprints, ensuring no ambiguity on “what needs to be built” at the story level.
  • Support test case design and UAT by validating that delivered features align with documented requirements and edge cases.
  • Track feedback from implementations and surface structured insights and patterns to Product Managers for roadmap consideration, without owning the roadmap itself.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success and Implementation teams on client-facing documentation (BRDs, solution outlines, training materials).

Required qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in SaaS, EdTech, CRM, or enterprise software implementations.
  • Strong experience in requirements elicitation, process modeling, and documentation for complex business workflows.
  • Practical exposure to CRM/SIS platforms used in higher education (e.g., Salesforce, Slate, Ellucian, Banner, PeopleSoft, Anthology) and their role in admissions and student lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with API-based integrations, data mapping, and system-to-system data flows, working closely with integration and engineering teams.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams, including writing user stories and supporting backlog refinement.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops and align multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar for requirements and process documentation.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in higher-education technology, admissions optimization, or student engagement platforms.
  • Exposure to Salesforce ecosystem and conversational/AI-driven workflows, including bots or intelligent routing.
  • Understanding of data privacy and compliance in education (e.g., FERPA, GDPR, SOC 2 concepts).
  • Prior involvement in implementation projects, discovery phases, or pre-sales solutioning alongside Product and Sales teams.

Growth opportunities
  • Path to Lead Business Analyst overseeing analysis standards across multiple client implementations.
  • Option to later transition into Product Manager for candidates who demonstrate strong market and strategy instincts, moving from “requirements/project focus” to “product/roadmap focus”.
  • Direct impact on how universities operationalize AI, CRM, and SIS capabilities to improve the full student lifecycle.
