As Business Development Manager in Toronto , you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Amaris Consulting by building and scaling your own Business Unit. You will have full strategic and operational ownership of the department, driving growth, profitability, and client excellence.

This is a leadership role that combines business acumen, technical expertise, and people management — offering you the opportunity to act as both an entrepreneur within the organization and a trusted advisor to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

  • Define and execute the strategic growth plan for the department.
  • Identify market trends and translate them into innovative service offerings aligned with client needs.
  • Lead end-to-end business development: from opportunity identification to proposal creation, negotiation, and closure.
  • Develop structured technical and financial proposals tailored to client challenges.
  • Organize and lead client qualification meetings, solution workshops, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor and report regularly on sales pipeline, KPIs, and business performance.

Client Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, building long‑term relationships based on trust and value delivery.
  • Expand Amaris’ footprint within existing clients and open new accounts across industries.
  • Lead contract negotiations and ensure alignment between client expectations and project delivery.
  • Proactively identify new digital opportunities and emerging trends to position Amaris as a strategic partner.
  • Own the P&L of the department, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and healthy margins.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to optimize performance, control costs, and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee invoicing processes and manage collections and recovery topics when necessary.
  • Forecast revenue and resource needs to support strategic planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of consultants and business managers.
  • Drive engagement, career development, and performance management across the team.
  • Manage inter‑contract periods efficiently and implement strategies to maximize bench utilization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Recruitment & People Development

  • Oversee recruitment of top‑tier talent in areas.
  • Define role profiles, conduct interviews, and ensure seamless onboarding.
  • Implement talent development programs, performance appraisals, and succession planning for critical roles.
  • Collaborate with HR and central talent teams to align recruitment with market demand and client projects.

Ideal Profile

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in IT consulting, project management, or digital services, with proven experience leading teams and managing a profit center.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and grow multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics, P&L management, and commercial strategy.
  • Experience in client‑facing roles, business development, and contract negotiation.
  • Fluent in both French and English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinker, results‑driven, and adaptable to change.

Additional Information

  • Expected Compensation Range: Approximately CAD 60,000 – 110,000, depending on experience, skills, and overall fit.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Recruitment: No AI tools are used in the screening, assessment, or selection process. All recruitment stages are conducted by human recruiters and hiring managers.
