Purpose:

he purpose of this position is to expand the customer base in our Homecare and Pharmacy businesses. This role will focus on continuously developing our presence in hospitals, homecare and physician clinics and promote the advantage of Royal Drugs Inc preparing medications to alleviate the burden on our customers’ facilities. As stricter guidelines come into practice, this role will highlight how piggybacking on current program models such as TPN, Home IV, and Transition Care will benefit them.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Development of an annual business expansion model with clear goals and objectives
  • Achieve all sales performance metrics
  • Initial focus on Ontario hospital pharmacies with business potential and expansion strategy
  • Identifying target physicians in infusion and the urology market to assist in supporting patients
  • Call on Key Decision Makers (KDMs) as well as Influencers. This includes and is not limited to Directors of Pharmacy, Drug Utilization Evaluation (DUE) Pharmacists and Managers of Pharmacy Services
  • Develop Physician speakers to lead lunch and learn events or rounds to educate other physicians and HCPs (Health Care Providers) in treatment modalities that can get patients out of the hospital and into the home more effectively (ie. Continuous Vancomycin infusion, increased use of elastomeric pumps).
  • Build on knowledge of the pharmacy environment with understanding of pharmacy limitations in process, people, space, etc. especially as it pertains to the sterile compounding of medications for intravenous (IV) infusion and subcutaneous (SQ) injection to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Support Pharmacy Managers in retail sites on revenue enhancement and front shop performance
  • Become a SME on pharmacy preparation guidelines as they pertain to business opportunities -- especially the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) guidelines
  • Share key learnings from the field with senior management and provide insights for strategic focus
  • Act as key consultant on additional medications that could be offered by OMS/Royal Drugs Inc as a service to Canadian hospitals and other health care facilities
  • Complete all necessary administrative functions in a timely manner e.g. Customer Relationship Management (CRM), expense reports, business plan with quarterly updates
  • Work closely with Contract Management colleague to effectively build KDM relationships (early) and understand operational challenges and limitations with key pharmacies going to tender through Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or other means
  • Lead/Assist tender responses for new business by completing many aspects of tender responses
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • University Degree (preferably in science or business BSc or BBA)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical device or related field
  • Experience calling on hospital pharmacy teams and/or physicians and family health teams with a strong understanding of pharmacy limitations (such as process, people, space, etc.) especially as it pertains to the sterile compounding of medications for intravenous (IV) infusion or subcutaneous (SQ) injection as well as physicians and other health care facilities.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software knowledge
  • Experience with RFP / tender responses is preferred
  • Past sales management experience will be a strong asset
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards such as NAPRA
