Job Description
Business Development Representative
Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
Work Location: Flexible (remote or hybrid), regular travel across North America and time spent at our head office in Wallenstein, Ontario.
Salary: $80,000-$100,000
Earthscape designs and builds beautiful, innovative and seriously fun playground sculptures and structures that inspire children and adults to creatively play. We partner with clients, industry partners and Landscape Architects to bring ambitious play concepts to life through thoughtful design, natural materials, and craftsmanship.
We're looking for a Business Development Representative to join our growing team. Within Earthscape we know these people as Playground Development Representatives as we are obsessed with designing and crafting serious fun for communities.
This is an important client-facing role at Earthscape. You are often the first connection people have with our work, introducing who we are, how we think, and what's possible. You'll spend time with clients, partners, and our representative network across North America, building relationships, qualifying opportunities, and helping set projects up for success from the very start.
What You'll Be Doing:
Representing Earthscape in the Market
- Build strong relationships with Landscape Architects, representatives, and key partners across North America
- Clearly articulate who Earthscape is, how we work, and what differentiates us in meetings, presentations, CEUs, and informal conversations
- Show up at trade shows, conferences, and industry events as a confident, engaging presence for the brand
Developing and Qualifying Opportunities
- Identify and qualify new leads, using good judgment to assess fit, timing, and potential
- Guide early conversations around vision, budget, and timeline within Earthscape's capabilities
- Know when to lean in and when to say no, closing conversations clearly, respectfully, and professionally
- Help ensure a smooth handoff from early interest into design and project delivery
Partnering Internally
- Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and leadership to shape opportunities and set clear expectations
- Bring the right people into conversations at the right time, using internal expertise thoughtfully
- Share market insights, client feedback, and trends with internal teams to inform strategy, Research & Design, and product direction
How You Show Up
We care just as much about how you work as what you do. People who thrive in this role are curious, prepared, and thoughtful in conversation. They read the room, adapt their approach to different audiences, stay adaptable when things shift or get complex, and ask good questions before offering solutions.
They bring confidence, use good judgment about where to focus their time and when to involve others, and care deeply about representing Earthscape with clarity, honesty, and enthusiasm.
What You Bring
Your background matters less than your mindset and presence. You likely have experience in a relationship-driven role, whether in business development, sales, or a design-adjacent environment, and are comfortable engaging clients and partners in thoughtful, consultative conversations.
You bring strong communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation settings, curiosity about design, materials, process, and value, and a collaborative orientation that makes working with teammates feel natural and effective.
Why This Role Matters
This role helps shape how Earthscape is understood in the world. You influence which projects come through our doors, how aligned they are, and how well they're set up from the start.
You'll be part of a passionate, talented team that cares deeply about the work and plays a meaningful role in growing Earthscape's impact across North America.
What's in it for you?
This job will offer you the opportunity to work on some of North America's most innovative playground projects. The pace, challenges and problem-solving opportunities will mean you are never bored. You will have the chance to develop and refine a wide variety of skills in our rapidly growing business. Your colleagues are dynamic, and highly skilled. They have an impressive range of backgrounds, skills and expertise. Above all they are dedicated to Earthscape's success.
We believe in great compensation for great employees, and we reward our staff with a combination of:
- Profit sharing and performance bonuses
- Employee share ownership opportunities (ESOP) after 1 year of service
- Six-week sabbatical after 14,000 hours worked

- Flex time with options to work remotely to support work-life balance
- Company events
