About the Role

The EV Powertrain Buyer is responsible for end-to-end sourcing and procurement of electric vehicle powertrain components. The role involves supplier scouting, cost evaluation, negotiations, supplier nomination, contract management, and lifecycle cost optimization while ensuring compliance with procurement processes and EV program timelines.

Responsibilities

• Supplier Sourcing & Strategy
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for EV powertrain components
• Track technology trends in EV motors, batteries, power electronics, and driveline systems
• Develop competitive supplier strategies aligned with cost, quality, and localization goals
• RFQ & Cost Management
• Prepare and release RFQs, review quotations, and perform cost breakdown analysis
• Conduct commercial negotiations for part prices, tooling, and investments
• Benchmark costs against market and global sourcing references
• Supplier Nomination & Contracting
• Lead supplier nomination and sourcing approvals
• Issue LOI, nomination letters, and procurement agreements
• Finalize commercial and legal terms with suppliers
• Project & Lifecycle Management
• Support EV program development from pre-series to series production
• Ensure supplier capacity planning and production readiness
• Manage cost changes, engineering changes, and series price settlements
• Drive cost reduction through value engineering, localization, and alternate sourcing
• Cross-Functional Coordination
• Work closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Finance teams
• Support supplier-related escalations and risk mitigation

Qualifications

5–10 Years

Required Skills

• Experience in strategic sourcing and procurement
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to manage supplier relationships
• Knowledge of electric vehicle powertrain components

Preferred Skills

• Experience in the automotive industry
• Familiarity with EV technologies
• Project management experience
