Job Description
What To Expect
As a CAE analysis engineer, you are expected to be innovative and will play a critical role in the crash structures development of next generation Tesla products. Tesla is synonymous with industry leading crash safety performance and in this role you will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing this performance with revolutionary vehicle designs. You will be brilliant both technically as an individual, and as an active member in a diverse and challenging cross-functional team environment. You will be working
with global teams while primarily supporting APAC and EU regions, hence will involve some flexibility to different time zones.
What You'll Do
Construct CAE models and perform simulations to evaluate component level and full vehicle crash performance based on regulatory and global crash performance rating requirements. Optimize body, closure, battery, chassis and other sub-systems based on your analysis results to improve the crashworthiness Collaborate with Test Engineering teams to develop and support subsystem level and full vehicle crash tests. Perform detailed post-crash test analysis and correlate CAE simulations to test results. Use correlated simulations and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to progress the design and improve the crash safety performance. Apply your knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, Applied Solid Mechanics, and Material Science in a product development environment. Get involved in methodology development to improve CAE modelling efficiency.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree from Engineering department is required. Master's or PhD's degree is preferred. Minimum 3 years of demonstrated successful experience as CAE engineer in the automotive sector. Successful experience with at least 1 full vehicle development as CAE engineer in the core development team. Theoretical knowledge of finite element analysis. Excellent applied software experience in LS-Dyna and Primer. Pre- and post-processor experience in ANSA/Meta is required. Experience working with aluminum, steel, composite structures, and a variety of advanced joining methods for crashworthiness. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with teams on problems that are challenging to solve and require innovative solutions. Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex test scenarios with good logic and analysis, root-causing and resolving correlation issues. Demonstrated ability in iterative and collaborative engineering environments – success in roles requiring high level of technical communication and interpretation of analytical results to design engineers and technical leadership. Basic level of working ability with scripting in Python is a plus. English speaking proficiency.
