Job Description – CAM / CNC Programmer

Position: CAM / CNC Programmer

Department: Manufacturing / Production

Location: IMT Faridabad, Faridabad (or specify)

Experience: 2–6 years

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled CAM / CNC Programmer who can convert AutoCAD / SolidWorks designs into NC programs for CNC milling machines, VMCs, and laser cutting machines. The role requires strong hands-on CAM knowledge, understanding of machining processes, and the ability to support production teams with accurate and optimized programs.

Key Responsibilities

CAM & CNC Programming

Convert AutoCAD (DWG/DXF) and SolidWorks (SLDPRT/STEP) designs into NC (G-code/M-code) programs

Generate and optimize 2D & 3D toolpaths for:

CNC milling machines

VMC machines

Laser cutting machines

Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies

Modify and fine-tune post-processed NC code as per machine requirements

Machine & Production Support

Support machine operators with:

Program proving and debugging

Tool offset and work offset setup

Fixture and workholding recommendations

Ensure programs are safe, efficient, and production-ready

Reduce cycle time and improve machining efficiency where possible

Laser Machine Support

Prepare cutting files and NC programs for laser cutting machines

Optimize nesting, cutting sequence, and parameters to reduce material waste

Coordinate with production for smooth laser operations

Documentation & Coordination

Maintain program version control and documentation

Coordinate with design, production, and quality teams

Assist in first-off inspection and troubleshooting machining issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of CAM software such as:

Mastercam / Fusion / SolidCAM / CAMWorks / NX CAM / Edgecam (any one or more)

Good understanding of:

CNC milling

VMC operations

G-code / M-code

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Knowledge of machining fundamentals:

Feeds & speeds

Tooling

Materials (MS, SS, Aluminum, etc.)

CAD Knowledge

Working knowledge of AutoCAD

Working knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software

Experience & Education

Diploma / ITI / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Production, or related field

2–6 years of relevant CAM / CNC programming experience

Experience in a job shop or manufacturing environment preferred

Preferred / Added Advantage

Hands-on exposure to CNC/VMC machines

Experience with sheet metal or laser cutting operations

Knowledge of fixtures and tooling design basics

Experience in production optimization and cycle time reduction
