OCEANA is the largest organization working exclusively on ocean conservation. It was established in 2001 and is based in Washington, D.C., USA. Its North American, South American, and European offices work together on a number of strategic campaigns to achieve measurable results in marine management and conservation for the seas in each country. OCEANA believes especially in the importance of science to identify problems and find solutions.

OCEANA's office in Brazil is located in Brasilia and works to influence government, society, the fishing industry, and scientists toward necessary changes and adjustments in public policy, planning and activities related to marine fishing.
