Metro Global Solution Center (MGSC) is internal solution partner for METRO, a € Billion international wholesaler with operations in more than 30 countries. The store network comprises a total of 623 stores in 21 countries, of which 522 offer out-of-store delivery (OOS), and 94 dedicated depots. In 12 countries, METRO runs only the delivery business by its delivery companies (Food Service Distribution, FSD).


HoReCa and Traders are core customer groups of METRO. The HoReCa section includes hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as bars, cafés and canteen operators. The Traders section includes small grocery stores and kiosks. The majority of all customer groups are small and medium-sized enterprises as well as sole traders. METRO helps them manage their business challenges more effectively.



MGSC, location wise is present in Pune (India), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland). We provide HR, Finance, IT & Business operations support to 31 countries, speak 24+ languages and process over 18,000 transactions a day. Job Description

Role Overview

As an Assortment Maintenance Expert at METRO GSC, you will play a key role in supporting Offer management function when it gets to assortment management. You will conduct external market screening, perform desktop research and prepare category review materials (including analytics). This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct external market screening to identify trends, opportunities/risks for assortment optimization
  • Perform desktop research and provide data analytics to support business decisions
  • Prepare category review decks, synthesizing market data, internal performance, and customer insights for business stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align activities with business objectives
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the GSC process related to assortment maintenance and market insights
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
  • Enhance efficiency and optimize service delivery within GSC
  • Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical mindset with expertise in market research and assortment data analysis
  • Highly organized with a structured approach and strong attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills; adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced data analytics skills, including processing and transformation of large datasets
  • Collaborative, eager to learn and a clear communicator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and coordination
  • Fluency in professional English
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in category management, procurement, analytics, or similar roles
  • Experience in retail, wholesale, or FMCG industries is a strong plus
  • Exposure to international or multi-market environments is an advantage
