ADI Global Distribution, now have the opportunity for a Category Manager to join our team based in either Sydney or Melbourne, Australia.



In this role you will be the strategic owner of pricing and category management for both proprietary and distributed brands across Asia Pacific. This role is pivotal in shaping market competitiveness, driving profitability, and ensuring alignment with global product strategies while adapting to local market dynamics. You will act as a key business partner across Marketing, Sales, and Planning, leveraging data-driven insights to influence commercial decisions, optimise product portfolios, and strengthen brand positioning. You will also manage relationships with distributed manufacturers to ensure product availability, competitive pricing, and alignment with category strategies.



**JOB DUTIES**



Pricing Strategy & Governance



+ Develop and execute pricing strategies that balance global positioning with local market realities.

+ Continuously monitor competitor pricing, market trends, and economic factors to identify risks and opportunities.

+ Partner with Planning to model pricing scenarios, assess margin impacts, and evaluate promotional effectiveness.

+ Maintain pricing governance and ensure integrity across all channels and product lines.



Category Management & Optimisation



+ Define and refine category architecture for AV, lighting, and smart building solutions across proprietary and distributed brands.

+ Collaborate with global HQ to localise product positioning, messaging, and assortment strategies.

+ Analyse category performance to recommend lifecycle management, assortment planning, and promotional initiatives.

+ Ensure compliance with certification frameworks and uphold brand protection standards.



Cross-Functional Leadership



+ Work closely with Sales to understand customer needs, channel dynamics, and competitive pressures.

+ Partner with Planning to forecast demand and support inventory optimisation.

+ Collaborate with Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies, hero messaging, and promotional calendars.

+ Provide strategic insights for major product launches (e.g., Connect 2.0, X4, LUX) to maximise commercial success.



External Partnerships



+ Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.

+ Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional support to optimise category performance.

+ Ensure compliance with quality standards, certifications, and brand protection requirements.

+ Collaborate with external partners on product lifecycle planning and innovation opportunities.



**YOU MUST HAVE**



+ 5+ years of experience in pricing, category, or product management within technology, distribution, or consumer electronics.

+ Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in Excel modeling and scenario analysis.

+ Deep understanding of competitive pricing dynamics and product lifecycle management.

+ Proven experience managing both proprietary and distributed product portfolios.

+ Strategic thinker with operational rigor and a bias for action.



**WE VALUE**



+ Familiarity with smart building, AV, or lighting solutions is highly desirable.

+ Ability to drive improvements in inventory management processes, including SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations, Planning), forecasting, and IOS (Inactive, Obsolete, Surplus).
