CED & Production Supervisor
Job Description
**What is the job about?**
The CED supervisor is a critical role for ensuring component availability for Chennai and Ahmedabad plant productions. This position is responsible for managing complete Cathodic Electrodeposition (CED) and Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) operations, while also acting as a supervisor for assembly lines, overseeing shift and production activities. Ensure compliance with environmental and EHS regulations, optimize process parameters for cost and production efficiency, and focus on preventive maintenance and breakdown reduction. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage resources effectively, and mentor team members to build capability. This role requires balancing technical expertise in CED with leadership in production supervision to drive operational excellence.
**Main responsibilities:**
• CED Supervisor role:
o Ensure safe and efficient CED operations aligned with production requirements.
o Manage the complete CED process, including pretreatment, bath chemistry, curing operations, and ETP management.
o Troubleshoot and resolve technical breakdowns using root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans; maintain proper documentation for all breakdowns.
o Monitor and maintain bath parameters, take proactive or immediate corrective actions when deviations occur, and document and escalate as required.
o Oversee the technical condition of machines and ensure timely preventive maintenance.
o Monitor component output quality to meet required specifications; initiate corrective actions with proper documentation when necessary.
o Ensure compliance with Lean CI practices, Layered Process Audits (LPA), GEMBA walks, Toolbox talks, Safety protocols, QRQC, 5S, pre-startup checks, and GPS standards.
o Plan manpower and component requirements effectively to meet production schedules.
o Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve business objectives.
o Follow the escalation matrix for all communications and activities with the manager.
o Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for raw materials, consumables, maintenance support, breakdown resolution, improvements, and modifications
o Maintain an efficient, productive, and harmonious work environment.
• Production Supervisor role:
o Participate actively in DBM updates, functional and team leader meetings, GEMBA walks, and Layered Process Audits (LPA) at the supervisor level.
o Plan and manage production activities, including sequencing and manpower allocation.
o Oversee and manage all shift operations whenever required, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to schedules.
o Maintain close coordination and collaboration with peer supervisors and team members to achieve production goals.
o Conduct Daily Activity Management (DAM) meetings to review performance and address deviations.
o Ensure compliance with Lean CI practices, LPA, GEMBA walks, Toolbox talks, Safety protocols, QRQC, SCC, 5S, pre-startup checks, and GPS standards.
o Demonstrate strong knowledge of best practices and relevant systems within production processes.
o Continuously improve labor cost productivity; assist in creating work instructions, standard work procedures, and follow the escalation matrix.
o Ensure quality delivery performance as per production planning schedules and drive achievement of APU STI and COT goals.
**Your Background:**
+ Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
+ Minimum 6 years of experience in CED painting operations and production supervision
+ In-depth knowledge of CED process, bath chemistry, and troubleshooting techniques.
+ Knowledge of ETP operations
+ Proficiency in SAP or ERP systems for production planning and inventory control.
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills for team development.
+ Experience in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (Kaizen, Six Sigma)
