Our team is comprised of 6 academic generalists, 3 academic hospitalists and 3 triage APPs who educate, supervise, and provide direct OB and Gyn patient care alongside residents within our own department as well as Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residents. 

Practice Information

  • Inpatient Obstetrics : Delivering patients from the midwife practice as well as supervising residents and medical students on busy Labor and Delivery and Postpartum. We have over 3000 deliveries per year within this department and manage both high-risk and low-risk patients. We are a large academic center, looking for CNMs that are preferably familiar with academic environment which includes both low and high risk patients.Â
  • Ambulatory Services : The midwife practice will provide prenatal care at Myers Park OBGYN ClinicÂ
  • CNM rotation  of 1-2 24 hour Labor & Delivery shifts per week and 2 clinical office days seeing patients at Myers Park OBGYN
  • About the OB/Gyn Department:

  • 31 board-certified physicians representing all OB/Gyn specialties providing care to a rich patient mix
  • 24 OB/Gyn residents (6 per year)
  • Regional campus for Wake Forest University School of Medicine- currently training 3rd and 4th year medical students in clinical education, will become a 4-year campus in the near future
  • In addition to providing care to the Charlotte underserved community, CMC is the primary regional referral center for high-risk pregnancies with Level 3 NICU support

  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and approved to practice as a Nurse Midwife in the state of NC/SC.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider from AHA required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certified
  • Minimum 1 year as a CNM or experience in labor and delivery (preferred)
