CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECH
POSITION SUMMARY
Reports To:
Director of Pharmacy
Summary:
Medication preparation under the direction of a pharmacist. Sterile and non-sterile compounding of medications, including hazardous and high risk medications. Refilling automated dispensing cabinets to ensure medications are at par levels. Delivering medications to various units within the hospital. Basic medication inventory and pulling of outdated medications, refilling various types of medication kits and processing the charges for these kits. Proper cleaning of the IV hoods and IV rooms. Recording medications and temperatures where required. Employee normally performs the duty assignments with broad parameters defined by general organization regulations and procedures. Total end results determine job performance.
Work Schedule:
Must be able to work non-standard hours.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience
Certification by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy as either a pharmacy technician or a pharmacy technician-in-training required.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.
Certificates & Licenses
Certification by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy as either a pharmacy technician or a pharmacy technician-in-training required.
Other Requirements
Satisfactory completion of in-house pharmacy technician certification within one year of application to the Indiana Board of Health for technician-in-training certification is required. National Technician certification is highly desirable. Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy is desirable.
