Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Chartered Accountant to lead cost & inventory accounting, statutory compliance, and plant-level financial controls in a manufacturing setup. The ideal candidate is proficient in standard costing, BOM/route accounting, variance analysis, inventory governance, and GST/compliance, and can partner with production, SCM, and quality functions to drive profitability, working capital efficiency, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
1) Costing & Profitability
- Develop and maintain standard cost, BOM/BOQ cost sheets, and routing costs (labor, machine rates, overhead absorption).
- Perform variance analysis (PPV, usage/yield, labor efficiency, overhead absorption) and drive corrective actions with Operations/SCM.
- Support cost audits, cost records (if applicable), and product/customer profitability analysis.
- Monitor manufacturing overheads; recommend cost optimization initiatives.
2) Inventory & Working Capital Control
- Design and enforce inventory control frameworks: cycle counts, ABC classification, safety stock, reorder points, SLOB (slow & obsolete), and inventory ageing.
- Oversee GRN to invoice matching, MRP/production postings, WIP valuation, and FG valuation under applicable standards.
- Reconcile physical vs. book inventory; lead quarterly/annual stock takes and investigate discrepancies.
- Drive working capital improvement: DIO reduction, materials yield, scrap accounting, and return-to-vendor processes.
3) Financial Accounting & Compliance
- Ensure accurate GL, sub-ledger, closing & reporting (monthly/quarterly/annual).
- Prepare MIS: P&L by plant/product line, contribution margin, variance dashboards, cash flow, and working capital reports.
- Manage GST (returns, reconciliations, e-invoicing/e-way bills), TDS/TCS, income tax support, and Companies Act compliance in coordination with external advisors.
- Coordinate statutory, internal, and cost audits; close observations with timely remediation.
4) ERP & Process Excellence
- Own finance-related ERP master data and process controls (SAP/Oracle/Tally/ERPNext—adjust as applicable).
- Implement SOPs for inventory movements, inter-plant transfers, subcontracting, and job-work accounting.
- Strengthen controls & documentation (DOA, 3-way match, maker-checker, segregation of duties).
5) Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with SCM/Production/Quality on material planning, yield improvement, and NCR/returns.
- Support new product introductions with cost roll-ups and financial feasibility.
- Provide financial insights for capex proposals (IRR/NPV), make-vs-buy, and vendor negotiations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- CA (Chartered Accountant) — mandatory.
- 7–8 years of post-qualification experience in manufacturing (discrete/process industries).
- Strong in cost accounting, standard costing, BOM/WIP valuation, and inventory controls.
- Hands-on with GST, TDS, Income Tax compliances, and audit coordination.
- Proficiency in ERP (SAP/Oracle/Tally or similar), advanced Excel, and Power BI/Tableau exposure preferred.
- Analytical mindset with ability to translate financial insights into operational actions.
- Excellent communication; ability to challenge and coach cross-functional teams.
- High integrity, detail orientation, and ownership in a plant environment.
Preferred Exposure (Nice to Have)
- Experience in electrical components/equipment manufacturing (aligns with your industry).
- Knowledge of cost records rules (where applicable).
- Familiarity with e-invoicing, e-way bill workflows, job-work/subcontracting accounting.
- Prior implementation or optimization of cycle counting/ABC analysis and SLOB reduction projects.
