A leading multidisciplinary design practice is seeking an experienced Chief Designer to join its Mumbai studio. This is a senior leadership role for a design professional with strong architectural or interior design credentials and a proven track record delivering high-quality, complex projects.

Experience: 8–12 years

Qualifications:

• Architects: B.Arch or M.Arch
• Interior Designers: Diploma / Degree / Master’s in Interior Design

Role Overview:

The Chief Designer will take ownership of the design quality and delivery across multiple projects, ensuring excellence from concept through documentation. The role requires strong leadership, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and responsibility for statutory submissions for projects in Mumbai and the Mumbai region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and take full accountability for the quality and consistency of design output across assigned projects.
• Develop strong, innovative design responses aligned with project briefs, resulting in high-quality and, where possible, award-winning outcomes.
• Deliver complete and well-documented design portfolios at all stages of the design process.
• Oversee statutory submission drawings for Mumbai and Mumbai region projects, coordinating closely with permitting consultants.
• Coordinate effectively with sub-consultants and internal design support teams to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
• Ensure projects are delivered efficiently, in line with agreed timelines and manpower budgets.
• Build strong client relationships by providing timely, comprehensive design solutions and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the design team, supporting professional growth, performance reviews, and team motivation.
• Present final, approved concept designs internally and to key stakeholders as required.
• Proactively identify and mitigate design coordination or documentation risks, escalating potential issues early to senior leadership to avoid client escalations.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Strong design leadership experience across complex, large-scale projects.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with consultants, internal teams, and clients.
• Deep understanding of statutory requirements and approval processes in Mumbai.
• Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining design excellence.
