Chief Estimator

Job Title: Steel Estimator/Sales (Structural Steel Full-Service Contracts)

Houston Area steel fabrication and erection company specializing in providing high-quality structural and miscellaneous steel for commercial projects, including schools, office buildings, warehouses, and more. We are seeking a highly motivated and growth-oriented Chief Estimator to lead our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to expand our growing business with industry connections and expand on the capacity of our experienced turnkey operation.

Chief Estimator Overview: As a Chief Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in selling and estimating projects in the $5M-20M+ range for a variety of commercial clients. Your responsibilities will depend on your experience and highly value those with ability to build from the strong foundation our organization has formed over the last 30+ years. We're excited to continue building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Chief Estimator Key Responsibilities:

  Estimating & Bidding: Prepare accurate steel estimates for commercial construction projects, including schools, office buildings, and warehouses. Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and materials.

  Sales & Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients, architects, and general contractors to understand project needs and provide competitive bids. Maintain relationships and follow up on project opportunities.

  Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Review project requirements and costs, and ensure all estimates are within budget. Advise on material choices and alternative solutions to meet both design and budgetary constraints.

  Project Coordination: Work closely with the project management and fabrication teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and efficient project execution.

  Growth & Advancement: Opportunity to take on more responsibility, including managing projects from start to finish ("cradle-to-grave"), and leading teams through the design, fabrication, and installation phases.

Chief Estimator Qualifications:

• 
  

  Experience: 8+ years of experience in steel estimating, with a focus on structural and miscellaneous steel for commercial projects.

• 
  

  Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel construction processes, structural steel design, and AISC industry standards. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, and/or Tekla is a plus.

• 
  

  Go-Getter: Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• 
  

  Sales Acumen: Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
