Civil Project Engineer

This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on contractor oversight, technical assurance, and day-to-day civil delivery across earthworks and infrastructure scopes. You will provide civil engineering support to operations and senior engineers, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with approved scopes, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Delivery & Technical Support

• Support delivery of civil works including earthworks, embankments, ponds, roads, drainage, and general infrastructure
• Conduct field inspections to verify progress, compliance, and safety
• Identify defects, non-conformances, and remediation requirements
• Assist with engineering assessments, technical documentation, and sign-off processes
• Verify survey data including pond levels, embankment geometry, drainage grades, and as-built records

Contractor Coordination

• Act as the day-to-day point of contact for assigned civil contractors
• Monitor contractor performance, safety compliance, and progress against scope and schedule
• Review contractor documentation including ITPs, test results, daily reports, and as-built information
• Support coordination of site access, operational interfaces, and resources

Planning, Reporting & Documentation

• Develop and maintain inspection and audit checklists
• Assist with preparation of scopes of work, construction work packs, punch lists, and handover documentation
• Report progress, risks, and issues to senior engineers and operations
• Support planning, forecasting, and cost tracking of civil activities
• Maintain accurate quality records, photos, inspection reports, and contractor documentation

Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure all works are undertaken safely and in accordance with site safety systems, statutory requirements, and company procedures
• Promote safe work practices and support a strong safety culture on site

About You

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil engineering or civil project engineering within mining, resources, heavy industry, or large-scale civil infrastructure
• Experience supporting civil contractors delivering earthworks, roads, drainage, embankments, or similar infrastructure
• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, survey data, and quality documentation
• Solid understanding of field construction processes and basic QA/QC requirements
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem skills
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)

Desirable

• Exposure to salt, mining, or operations environments
• Surveying exposure and interpretation of as-built data
• Professional engineering registration or working towards registration
• Ability to operate and maintain 4WD vehicles
