:JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for assessing and documenting high-risk patients' nutritional needs and implementing and monitoring care plans and nutritional progress in collaboration with other healthcare providers. The individual provides nutrition counseling to patients and/or their families and is a key resource for educating staff on nutrition related topics and polices for care. The Clinical Nutrition Specialist assists in training and mentoring other dietetic/nutrition staff and interacting with other healthcare professionals on specific patient care nutritional needs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or related field.
Preferred/Optional: Master’s degree in clinical dietetics, food and nutrition, public health, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: One year experience in clinical dietetics. Two years experience in an acute care setting or completion of a focused internship or fellowship program.
Preferred/Optional: Two years experience in clinical dietetics within an acute care setting. Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience utilizing a patient care documentation system and order system for patient meal delivery.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Minimum Required: Dietitian license awarded by the State of Wisconsin. Registered Dietitian awarded by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
Preferred/Optional: None
Experience in Pediatric Acute Care required, advanced certification in Pediatric Nutrition desired but experience may be substituted.
