Overview

St. Luke's Health System in Boise is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse to join our Children/Adult Specialty Research team.

Schedule:

- Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm (variable hours)

- PRN weekends of 2-3 hours per shift.

- Offering occasional hybrid work arrangements, with the primary office location at Humphrey's Diabetes Clinic .

Unit/Position Summary

The Children's Specialty Research (CSR) multidisciplinary team focuses on adult and pediatric endocrinology, adult and pediatric cystic fibrosis, pulmonary outpatient and adult inpatient research at Boise Medical Center and Meridian Hospital.

The Clinical Research Nurse, under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), ensures the integrity and quality of clinical trials are maintained and conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals. This position is primarily responsible for the accurate completion of visit procedures and collection of information from study patients according to protocols, and for protecting the health, safety, and welfare of research participants. In addition, the clinical trial nurse also acts as a study coordinator for limited studies.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing Nursing Care to Research Study Patients.
  • Ensures compliance with each study's protocol by providing thorough review and documentation at each subject study visit.
  • Participates in recruitment and selection of study participants by interviewing and documenting medical history to determine compliance with eligibility requirements.
  • Performs medical tests, including vital signs, electrocardiograms, pediatric and adult blood draws, IM injections and place/manage IV's
  • IV administration of medications investigational medications and performs patient assessments during clinic visits to determine the presence of side effects; notifies the Principal Investigator of findings/issues.
  • Provides patient education and medical information to study patients to ensure understanding of proper medication dosage, administration, and disease treatment
  • Documents medical data in patient charts to capture protocol
  • Assist with EPIC builds for study protocols
