Cloud Devops & Infrastructure Engineer

The Equities Embedded Portfolio Management Solutions Team is a specialized group of engineers operating at the intersection of technology and quantitative finance. Our mission is to accelerate the research and trading strategies of Millennium's systematic Portfolio Management teams. We function as an internal center of excellence, providing expert-level solutions, architecture, and hands-on development in AI, Cloud (AWS/GCP), DevOps, and high-performance computing. Our engagement model is dynamic, ranging from expert support, advisory, and solutions architecture to fully embedded, project-based implementations where we build bespoke solutions directly for Portfolio Management teams. We are a high-impact team that builds and maintains a suite of managed services, libraries, and patterns that form the bedrock of modern quantitative research at the firm.

Role Description

We are seeking a hands-on, business-facing Cloud engineer to join our team. In this role, you will partner directly with some of the most sophisticated quantitative researchers, developers, and portfolio managers in the industry. You will be their trusted technical advisor, helping them design, build, and optimize their Cloud environments and workflows. This is not a typical Cloud Engineering role; it’s a unique blend of support, solutions architecture, and client engagement.

This is a Cloud Engineering role that will include supporting technical and non-technical Portfolio Managers, Quants, by advising on best practices, deploying and maintaining their Cloud environment(s), and providing support and training for new teams onboarding. In addition to the core role functions provided above, you will also have an opportunity to contribute and learn Software Development (our Team build products/services as part of the broader responsibilities). You will also have an opportunity to design, build, or learn about GenAI solutions being built within our team to accelerate productivity in supporting Portfolio Management teams.

    • What You'll Do (Principal Responsibilities)

  • Advisory: Engage directly with Portfolio Management teams to understand their unique business needs, questions, and problem statements to offer and deploy Cloud Infrastructure to serve their needs (on AWS and/or Google Cloud) to enable their research use-cases.
  • Support: Be an SME in Cloud and our internal products and services (abstractions atop Cloud) offered to Portfolio Management teams and provide direct support to teams.
  • Enablement: You will onboard, educate, and build re-usable patterns that Portfolio Management teams who are technical and non-technical can use to self-service and setup their own Cloud environments with ease for common use-cases.
  • Automate: You will participate and assist our team members (Software Engineers) and directly contribute to AI agentic products to accelerate Cloud Support and increase productivity of the number of teams we can support without human intervention.

    • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 – 5 years of Professional Cloud experience with a strong foundation in either AWS or Google Cloud (preferably AWS).
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting Cloud Infrastructure/Platform for business teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing or business-facing role, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Interest and passion to automate as practically possible to provide customers or your team efficiency leveraging Cloud.
  • Experience debugging and root cause analysis.
  • Able to design Cloud architecture for common Cloud use-cases.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Cloud Formation or AWS CDK or Terraform
  • Proficiency with DevOps tooling (AWS CodePipeline, Github Actions, or GCP Cloud Build), CI/CD practices)

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience deploying applications into Kubernetes using ArgoCD.
  • Associate-level or Professional-level AWS Certifications.
  • Foundational software development experience.
  • Passion and interest in learning and applying AI solutions.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines and schedulers (Airflow/Dagster)
