CMS Computing Operations Engineer (EP-CMO-2026-13-GRAE)

In this role you will be the contact between the CMS experiment and the CERN IT department. You will manage the virtual machine pool, the Linux configuration of the VMs, and storage allocations.

Your responsibilities

• Be the contact between the CMS experiment and the CERN IT department.
• Manage virtual machine allocations of the experiment in OpenStack.
• Coordinate storage allocations with computing management and detector/physics organisations of CMS.
• Setup, configure, and administer existing VMs of the experiment using Puppet.
• Provide backup support for the management of the CVMFS content.
• Assist colleagues in the system administration of VMs.
