The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping, and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities: Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor. Additionally, the MDC provides drinking water to portions of Farmington, Glastonbury, East Granby and South Windsor, known as the MDC's non-member towns . The purpose of this classification is to assist with planning and managing the staff, resources, and operations and maintenance of the water pollution control facility systems. Work involves overseeing the operation and maintenance of the water pollution control facilities and laboratory; supervising and reviewing the work of department staff directly and through subordinate supervisors; and assisting with planning, evaluating, and monitoring the plant's work load, budgets, productivity, safety and performance.
