Compliance Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Compliance Engineer to ensure our products, processes, and operations meet regulatory, industry, and corporate compliance standards. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to identify regulatory requirements, conduct testing, maintain documentation, and support product certifications. The Compliance Engineer will play a key role in risk mitigation and ensuring product and operational integrity.

General Responsibilities
• Leverages engineering fundamentals and organization to make sound decisions on complex technical issues
• Detailed understanding of market and implications for business
• Proactively challenge and drives the organization to deliver improved quality and performance related to engineering design
• Product Strategy participant and driver
• Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications)
• Direct interaction with customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
• Corrosion research and welding characterization & has a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo and heat transfer
• Advanced knowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals and product test processes
• Familiarity with manufacturing methods – welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding, machining, stamping, molding, and forming. Basic knowledge of core manufacturing processes
• Lead mechanical design activities while participating on cross-functional New Product Development (NPD) teams
• Assist with design prototype builds and production validation activities in collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and supply
• Familiarity with design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products and processes comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., UL, CE, FCC, ISO, RoHS, REACH).

Testing & Certification: Coordinate and perform compliance testing, work with third-party certification bodies, and oversee regulatory approvals.

Documentation & Reporting:Maintain compliance documentation, test reports, technical files, and regulatory submissions.

Risk Assessment & Mitigation:Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential issues.

Product Development Support: Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Engineering teams to integrate compliance requirements early in the design phase.

Audits & Inspections: Support internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Process Improvement: Develop and implement compliance-related policies, procedures, and training to enhance organizational adherence to regulations.

Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry groups to stay informed of changing compliance requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field preferred

Experience: In compliance engineering, regulatory affairs,quality or product certification.

Knowledge: Familiarity with global compliance regulations (e.g., UL, CSA, FCC, CE, ISO 9001/14001, REACH, RoHS).

Technical Skills: Experience with compliance testing, laboratory environments, and regulatory documentation.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with attention to detail.

Tools:Proficiency in compliance software, document management systems, and engineering tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in industries such as industrial, electronics, aerospace, or automotive.
