Job Summary
The Value Engineer I is responsible for analyzing and optimizing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for Lantronix products to ensure cost efficiency, compliance, and long-term part availability. This role involves identifying and qualifying alternate components, managing lifecycle risks, and collaborating with design, procurement, and supply chain teams to drive standardization and support product reliability. The engineer plays a key role in reducing costs, mitigating obsolescence, and ensuring timely availability of electronic parts critical to Lantronix’s product lines.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Analyze, validate, and optimize BOMs and product designs for accuracy, compliance, and cost efficiency.
• Identify and recommend design or material alternativesto reduce costs, mitigate lifecycle risks, and improve product performance.
• Collaborate with design, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure cost-effective parts and materials are available.
• Monitor product lifecycle and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
• Maintain accurate product and BOM data within PLM and ERP systems.
• Support new product introductions by ensuring component readiness and compliance with regulations (RoHS, REACH, etc.).
• Drive standardization and value improvement initiatives across projects to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve value-related issues impacting design, cost, or production.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Computer Science.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in BOM engineering.
• Strong knowledge of electronic parts, sourcing, and Product Lifecycle Management tools.
Qualification & Skills
Required qualifications and skills include but are not limited to:• Strong understanding of electronic components and sourcing principles.
• Proficiency with PLM tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS).
• Knowledge of Product lifecycle management and risk mitigation (EOL, NRND).
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as RoHS and REACH.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for BOM optimization and cost reduction.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with design, procurement, and supply chain teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
