The Computer Engineer will be responsible for providing day-to-day administration on a UNIX/LINUX network. Duties include operating system installation and troubleshooting, disk management, backup and recovery, network resource management, user support, and application installation and troubleshooting. The Engineer will configure and troubleshoot client and server systems running Solaris and IRIX, support network services (NIS(+), NFS, DNS), configure security requirements for resource sharing and access restrictions, perform disk management using UFS, XFS, VxFS file systems on diverse vendor storage hardware, and install/configure COTS products such as ESRI, ERDAS, Sybase, Oracle, STK, COREL, and Autometric products.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Possess a minimum of sixteen (16) years’ UNIX/LINUX experience of which at least five (5) years working on Solaris platforms specifically
