This role ensures robust machining processes through effective CNC programming, machine setup optimization, fixture and jig design, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, quality, and productivity in line with lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop CNC programs using CAM software during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase.
- Optimize NC programs to achieve maximum machining efficiency, precision, and repeatability.
- Ensure CNC programs, work instructions (WI), and related documentation are properly stored, controlled, and maintained in the system.
- Support production teams in debugging, modifying, and improving CNC programs during mass production.
Machine Setup & Optimization
- Perform complex CNC machine setup and configuration, including tooling selection, fixture setup, and machine offset adjustments.
- Tune machining parameters such as cutting speeds, feeds, and tool paths to improve cycle time, surface finish, and tool life.
- Provide technical support to machinists and technicians during setup, first article, and production runs.
- Design, develop, and implement jigs and fixtures to ensure process stability, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Improve existing fixtures and tooling to enhance productivity, quality, and ergonomics.
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to fabricate and validate jigs and fixtures.
