Job Description:


Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks or curbs to specified textures. Must be willing to travel amongst several projects within the area and will be working in various weather conditions. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys working outdoors, and wants to be part of building and maintaining public infrastructure.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  • Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency.

  • Level, smooth and shape freshly poured concrete.

  • Finish concrete surfaces.

  • Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patch holes.

  • Mold expansion joints and edges.

  • Sprinkle stone chips, powered steel or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.

  • Produce concrete surface.

  • Mix cement.

  • Direct subgrade work, mixing of concrete and setting of forms.

  • Finish steps and stairways.

  • Break up and repair old concrete surfaces.

  • Mix and pour grout.

  • Calculate amounts of concrete required for each job.

  • Picture objects from drawings and diagrams.

  • Compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects.

    • PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (assistance recommended for heavier loads).

  • Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces.

  • Climb ladders, kneel, crawl, or work at heights and in confined spaces.

  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop

  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: Uneven ground level
    Obstructed pathways
    Work performed at low and/or high elevations
    Work performed in confined areas

  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: Predominately outdoor climate
    May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather

    Various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
