About Bridgespan India

Established in 2015, the rapidly growing India office of The Bridgespan Group helps to catalyze a stronger social sector with the goal of improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable populations. We pursue projects that are intellectually challenging and have the potential for significant social impact; our services include providing strategic advisory to social purpose organizations, cohort-based capacity building programs for NGOs (), anchoring sector-building initiatives such as and , and developing and sharing insights through publications (e.g., , )

Since our office opened, we have completed advisory projects on a range of issues including education and skilling, gender, climate, health, livelihoods, and land rights. Our clients include prominent institutional philanthropies such as Azim Premji Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Tata Trusts; CSR organizations such as Axis Bank Foundation, JSW Foundation and Mahindra & Mahindra; nonprofits such as Aangan, ARMMAN and Project ECHO, and ecosystem actors such as Asian Venture Philanthropy Network, Dasra and Give India. Project examples include:

  • Developing a flagship initiative targeted at enabling millions of women to become entrepreneurs for a leading CS

  • Sourcing and diligence of nonprofits for a global collaborative funding initiative

  • Designing a funder engagement strategy to enable growth for a global NGO that focuses on eliminating malnutrition in children and women

  • Crafting a strategy and identifying high-impact opportunities at the intersection of climate and health for the India office of an international development group

  • About the Consultant position

    Consultants play an important role at Bridgespan, working to provide nonprofit and philanthropy clients with powerful data, analyses, and strategies that allow them to increase their impact. Consultants, as members of case teams, develop independent work plans and take ownership of significant portions of client work. To facilitate the development of strong client relationships, Consultants are often partnered with members of the client team. It is expected that Consultants will quickly assume team and client leadership responsibilities.

    The Bridgespan Group invests deeply in the training and development of each Consultant. While most of the training is on the job, Consultants attend formalized training sessions throughout their career at Bridgespan, beginning with an extensive orientation program. As the Consultant progresses, there are training programs that focus on developing deeper consulting skills. Bridgespan Consultants also participate in training programs with Bain Consultants from around the world. Bridgespan helps each Consultant build a successful career: cracking tough problems, communicating solutions with clients and teams, and collaborating across levels, including with Associate Consultants and Managers.

    Once fully onboarded, Consultants will follow our 50-50 staffing model, which means that they will work on two projects at a time with different teams. Consultants enter as generalists working on projects that range considerably in topic and client profile, making this ideal for candidates who are enthusiastic about exploring the full range of work we do. Consultants will also have the opportunity to be staffed on research and writing projects so that leaders everywhere can benefit from the insights Bridgespan gleans in its work.     Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and manage work modules that address core strategic issues for clients

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Gather data through interviews and secondary research

  • Generate creative, action-oriented insights and recommendations

  • Facilitate joint problem-solving sessions with mid-level and senior-level clients

  • Write and deliver high-impact presentations and plans

  • Contribute to Bridgespan’s knowledge capture, creation and dissemination

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior members of the team

  • Play an active role in firm and culture building (e.g., recruitment, training, team-building events)

  • Be prepared to work 50-55 hours per week, on average, with variation week to week in response to client needs.

    Qualifications

  • 2-6 years of professional experience, including at least two years in strategy consulting or a reputed nonprofit or social sector impact organisation or a strategy role with a conglomera2-6 years of professional experience, including at least two years in strategy consulting or a reputed nonprofit or social sector impact organisation or a strategy role with a conglomerate.

  • Strong education background, preferably a postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, MPA, MPP, PGD)

  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to working in the social sector and on society’s most important challenges.

  • Has strong analytical skills and creativity in problem-solving.

  • Is proficient in verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in the English language.

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple moving parts (e.g., work planning, time management, and management of stakeholder expectations).

  • Ability to build client relationships, work effectively in a team environment, and facilitate joint problem-solving.

  • Ability to apply a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in analysis.

  • Has an inclusive and collaborative mindset

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to assist in building our growing office.

  • Bridgespan will calibrate the relevance and tenure of your professional experience, academic qualifications, interview performance, and other factors against global standards and internal benchmarks. Based on this assessment, Bridgespan reserves the right to offer either a Consultant or Senior Associate Consultant position. While the responsibilities for both roles are largely similar, Senior Associate Consultants are typically promoted to Consultant within 12–18 months.
