Content Engagement and Podcast Coordinator

The concept of The WEST Journal developed as an idea to celebrate, discover and explore the amazing travel, food & culture destinations within Western Sydney and into Regional NSW. Connecting the outer suburbs with the city and beyond. WEST intends to be a national brand.

WEST produces weekly content, a bi-annual publication, as well as having a digital presence via our webpage, social media and the WEST APP. The goal is to always be at the forefront of happenings and events and to share and explore hidden gems so that people can answer for themselves one simple question: What are you doing this weekend?

A role exists within The WEST Journal to facilitate our content engagement across our media platforms, our Ambassador programs and development of our Podcast Series.

The aim of this role is to grow with the development of the APP.The creation of content and social media assets for The WEST Journal, sits across our web, print, a variety of social media platforms and the WEST APP, along with the coordination of our Ambassador program is the primary role.

The delivery of this role sits under the direction of the Editor & Founder and alongside our Content Lead, who is positioned to help facilitate this role. There will be external graphic designers and creative leaders to help in delivery of the broader marketing campaigns, alongside the immediate WEST staff, your own skills in writing, creating content plus the network of subconsultants for specific tasks and specific client needs.

Our Brand Ambassadors are one tier of the Ambassador program, from media, sports & celebrity, to cool people doing cool things, artists, MasterChefs and creative people as well as First Nations talent are also the foundation for our podcast series. They are also the basis for content and articles for our ‘local legends’ content that looks at everyday people doing amazing things.

WEST Ambassadors are content creators, and part of the Ambassador program. They are content creators we seek out that are authentic, unique and can be across travel, food and culture. They are largely managed within the APP, but our engagement is through marketing campaign coordination with clients or for WEST centric campaigns. The facilitation of these marketing campaigns would fall under this role.

This role will also lead into a podcast series with our Brand Ambassadors. The aim is to fashion our lead WEST content alongside stories of these WEST brand ambassadors that can then create a podcast series that tell the stories of the individual and the wider community around them, where they grew up. The aim is to inspire others from the suburbs that they too can-do great things.

The role sits alongside our Content Lead, who broadly manages the planning and delivery of our overarching NSW wide content, and, we are looking to have a team member for our social media that sit alongside this role for the day-to-day management of our digital marketing platforms.

Your role would include:

  • Content planning alignment and coordination with the Content Lead
  • Brand Ambassador Content creation – written, digital, interview style and marketing assets
  • Brand Ambassador liaison and coordination for marketing campaigns
  • Client liaison and management within WEST databases
  • Input for development of ideas for content and campaigns
  • Collaborating with the broader team on new ideas and directions for the company
  • Engagement with client events, promotions, launches and festivals
  • Coordinate and grow media partnerships
  • Coordinate with our team for social media content
  • Client content creation for WEST endorsement content Advertising articles
  • Sub-Editor peer review for Content Lead and Editor
  • Coordinate with our graphic design team for WEST marketing campaigns
  • Develop and plan for the establishment of a WEST Podcasts
  • Potential intestate content creation as part of the WEST APP growth plans
  • Assist with print journal distribution twice yearly
  • Potential opportunity for digital content article creation
  • Flexibility with additional role inclusions as they arise

Skills Required:

Industry experience in producing, editing, writing, blogging and social media posting

Highly organised with excellent communication skills

Ability to write, proof, create and edit content

Ability to multitask multiple jobs at once

Ability to prioritise tasks and workload

Ability to work autonomously as well as a part of the WEST Team

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva and editing programs

Ability to comprehend, deliver and maintain the brand style, tone and voice

Demonstrate a creative mindset

  • To be self-driven, offer independent thought and add value to the brand
  • Periodic weekend and evening availability is potentially required for client events, promotions, launches and festivals attendance

SUMMARY

The role’s primary focus is to initially facilitate all of WEST’s Content Engagement within ‘The WEST Journal’s’ platforms to help deliver our Ambassador Programs as well as create content for both The WEST Journal and clients. The role also includes all team members working within our project management programs, client CRM, databases and in turn working with key team members for delivery of our broader marketing strategies.

The onboarding of this role is a part of bringing to market the WEST APP. The Content Lead role is a critical position with intended growth nationally as the APP develops and expands. The Content Engagement Sub-Editor role works with the Content Lead, delivering articles and brand stories being told.

We are a collaborative team who enjoy working in a flexible and relaxed working environment while ensuring we get the job done. The role will include training by our Content Lead, digitally or at our office in Camden NSW and primarily offers a role that is based on the ability to work from home.

This role is NSW based with the ability to develop into a national role.

Probationary Salary commencing at $85,000. Salary probationary period 3-months.

Stepping to $ or Hourly Rate $42.44 on completion of probationary period

Travel at ATO rate plus costs

Budget to be provided for expenses reimbursement

Laptop plus Mobile Phone (Business Number to be owned by WEST)

Typical hours operate during standard business working hours

Flexibility in hours worked enables participation in weekend and evening activities
