In 2018, we began with a WhatsApp group with a simple hypothesis: people in tier-2/3 towns weren’t really using the internet meaningfully yet. We believed that if we started with local content in their own language, they’d come back every day; once there was a habit and trust, that same space could naturally grow into classifieds and, eventually, something they used for almost everything online.This spark became Lokal. Our first instinct was to put everything in one place & one app - local updates, classifieds, jobs, matrimony and more. It worked, till it stopped working. Users gave us the insight - when one use case outweighs the others, everything else seems like noise. We listened. Like how Craigslist quietly seeded a generation of focused companies & marketplaces, we began unbundling and verticalising.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging and informative content in Kannada for various platforms including blogs, social media, and website.
• Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to brand guidelines.
• Conduct research on industry trends and topics relevant to our audience.
• Collaborate with other teams to align content strategies and messaging.
• Optimize content for SEO to enhance discoverability and user engagement.
• Gather feedback from the community to refine and improve content offerings.
• Stay updated with local culture and news to produce timely and relevant content.

Requirements

• Fluency in Kannada and strong writing skills in English.
• Proven experience in content writing, preferably for digital media.
• Excellent research and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization techniques.
• A deep understanding of local culture and interests within the Kannada-speaking community.
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and engaging audiences.
