Job Description

DematicCorp has a need for a Controls Engineer in Dematic’s Field Service Group.

The successful candidate will have experience working in the material handling industry and will work directly with customers providing service, repairs, and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment.

When not at customer sites, the candidate will also work in customer service technical support back‑office tasks, attending customer cases by connecting remotely to sites and using schematics and PLC logic to find and isolate the reported issues. The position requires travel within the US and Mexico, as well as occasional weekend work.

Tasks And Qualifications

What You Will Do in This Role:

  • When traveling to customer sites: contribute to semi‑complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls
  • Train customers on semi‑complex products and services
  • Perform semi‑complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintain documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures
  • Participate in responding to semi‑complex service calls
  • Participate in the assessment of semi‑complex product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommend modifications or improvements
  • Travel between 50% to 100% to different customer locations, which may include weekends
  • When supporting customer service technical support: participate in the support of semi‑complex systems that integrate hardware and software
  • Provide support in semi‑complex material specification, schematic troubleshooting, and appropriate follow‑up
  • Participate in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise to Dematic's customers

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2‑4 years of experience in a related field providing Customer Service Support
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Logix PLC control platforms
  • Experience with controls hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience with Siemens and Modicon PLC a plus
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Strong Customer Service mentality
  • Strong English verbal communication skills over the phone
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel on short notice and spend more than 50% of the time traveling; may be continuously away from home for as long as a month (travel expenses provided)
  • Willingness to be available during off hours and travel accordingly
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays and off shifts
