About the Role
As a Shutdown Coordinator, you are responsible for the safe and efficient execution of major maintenance shutdowns across processing plant associated within the Surface Maintenance at the Telfer Gold mine. The role ensures all shutdown activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with company safety and environmental standards.
Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off.
Your key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
Shutdown Planning & Scheduling
- Review and approve Shutdown SAP notifications to ensure correct Labour and material are added to SOW’s
- Liaise with Planning department to develop, maintain, and communicate detailed shutdown schedules
- Maintain shutdown communications with stakeholders
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and operations teams to define work scopes, resource requirements, and critical path activities
- Liaise with Maintenance Superintendent to ensure maintenance strategies are adhered to and interrogated
- Managing budgeted shutdown costs
- Drive regular shutdown planning meetings and readiness reviews
- Review shutdown execution plans, including work packs, permits, isolation plans, and task lists
- Assess shutdown schedules to ensure materials, tools, and services for all shutdown work are accurately and timely procured
- Liaise with mobilisation to determine shutdown numbers and qualifications required
Shutdown Execution
- Lead the daily coordination and progress tracking during shutdown execution
- Monitor performance against schedule, scope, and budget; identify and manage deviations
- Ensure all safety, quality, and environmental requirements are adhered to at all times
- Liaise closely with operations and maintenance teams to manage handovers, isolations, and plant start‑up
- Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements
- Review execution methods, both in field and from administrative perspective for opportunities to optimise
Post‑Shutdown Activities
- Conduct post-shutdown reviews and produce close‑out reports, highlighting performance, lessons learned, and improvement opportunities
- Review and action vendor reports ensuring work to be completed in subsequent shutdowns is captured, SOW’s detailed and cost estimates obtained for budget reforecasting
- Maintain accurate shutdown documentation and historical records for continuous improvement
Contribute to reliability improvement initiatives and long-term maintenance planning strategies.
About You
- Experience supervising, maintenance planning or coordination in a heavy industrial, mining and/or processing environment
- Proven experience coordinating large‑scale shutdowns or turnarounds in fixed plant operations
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning systems (SAP, Pronto, or similar CMMS)
- Skilled in resource allocation and prioritising work based on operational and safety requirements
- Experienced in managing and coordinating contract services such as cranes, scaffolding, and conveyor systems
- Competent in reviewing and implementing risk assessments and hazard control measures
- Proficient in using maintenance systems such as SAP to manage work orders, parts, and job execution
- Strong leadership capability with a focus on team development, performance management, and cultural improvement

About Telfer Operations
Telfer is a long‑life gold‑copper mine in the Paterson Province of Western Australia’s East Pilbara region. The operation includes both open‑pit and underground mining and Australia’s third‑largest gold‑copper processing facility. Since commencing production in 1975, Telfer has produced over 15 million ounces of gold. The site operates on a fly‑in fly‑out basis and offers a wide range of onsite recreational facilities to support workforce wellbeing.
About the Havieron Project
Havieron is a world‑class gold‑copper development project located 45km east of Telfer in the Paterson Province. Owned 100% by Greatland, Havieron has a multi‑decade mine life and will utilise Telfer’s existing processing infrastructure. The project is supported by a significant regional exploration portfolio surrounding Telfer.
