**Job Description:**
**The Copy Editor** will assist the Associate Editorial Director and work closely with Creative team members to **hone and maintain brand voice and tone and oversee the reviewing and editing of content to ensure clarity, consistency, and correctness—making sure all materials adhere to the Scholastic Reading Events (SRE) style guide and meet the highest standards of quality.** This work is inclusive of four SRE brands: Book Fairs, Book Clubs, Scholastic Dollars, and Storyvoice.
The Copy Editor’s day-to-day responsibilities include:
+ **Proofreading:** Checking for grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors
+ **Fact-checking:** Verifying numerical information like dates, codes, and statistics
+ **Editing:** Revising text to improve its style and readability
+ **Layout:** Providing recommendations for the arrangement of text and images
