Description

Reporting to the VP, Finance, in the Vancouver office, the Corporate Controller will be responsible for the financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls of the Company. This position will play a key role in the development and execution of the Company’s financial reporting requirements under IFRS under the TSX, NYSE, and ASX.

LOCATION The role will be based in our Vancouver office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, timely financial and project reporting under IFRS as required under the public Company requirements per the TSX, NYSE, and ASX.
  • Co-ordinate the timely preparation and filing of the consolidated financial statements including note disclosures, MD&A, AIF and legal entity financial statements.
  • Perform technical accounting analysis.
  • Prepare other regulatory / internal filings such as NRCan, ESTMA and Local Priority Area reporting along with assisting MIC and sustainability reporting.
  • Prepare dashboard / KPI reports for the Finance department as well as the organization.
  • Be responsible for Corporate departments’ actual analysis and preparation of the monthly reporting package. Back up for the Project departments’ budget to actual analysis.
  • Ensure strong financial governance through the adherence and compliance of internal controls and maintain a strong internal control environment under SOX.
  • Collaborate with budget owners on the annual Budget process and work with departments to ensure alignment.
  • Define and lead fit for purpose process improvements and automation as well as coordinate the implementation of any changes identified especially around critical KPIs for the Finance department as well as other business departments.
  • Manage cashflow and treasury function of the Company to support VP, Finance.
  • Assist capital raising activities and prepare covenant reporting packages.
  • Manage tax planning and liaise with tax advisors on strategy and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist and coach team members on accounting, transactions, reorganizations, and the preparation of financial reports as required.
  • Frequent trips to the Saskatoon office are expected.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • CPA Accounting Designation, or equivalent, and post-secondary degree in relevant field.
  • 6+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong accounting expertise in IFRS and experience working in a SOX compliant environment.
  • Mining industry or large capital project experience is required.
  • Proven team leadership, able to work with team members at all levels to meet deliverable deadlines.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel), Power Pivot and Power Query is required.
  • Experiences in SAP Business ByDesign or SAP HANA and Workiva an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced environment and flexible to take on a multitude of tasks.
