Corporate Vice President - HSE India

Objective (The main purpose of the position)

To create, establish, and lead a robust HSE & Sustainability framework across all Indian manufacturing sites, ensuring statutory compliance, operational excellence, cultural transformation, and integration of sustainability objectives into business operations. The role acts as the corporate custodian of safety, health, environmental stewardship, and sustainability performance.

Industry Preference :  Chemicals/ Pharmaceuticals only

Key Responsibilities (State the primary duties and tasks of the position)

Technical & Governance:

Develop and deploy a uniform HSE Management System across all Indian sites (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Responsible Care®).

Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, startup safety reviews, and corporate risk assessments.

Implement corporate policies on occupational health, industrial hygiene, waste management, and environmental compliance.

Integrate HSE considerations into project design, technology transfer, and scale-up processes.

Establish and execute corporate audit programs with timely closure of findings.

Serve as the corporate interface with regulators, statutory authorities, and external auditors.

Monitor evolving legislation and global standards, ensuring proactive compliance.

Leadership & Strategy:

Provide strategic direction, mentoring, and capability building to site HSE Heads and teams.

Drive India-level sustainability initiatives including decarbonization, water stewardship, waste minimization, and energy efficiency.

Represent India operations in global HSE & Sustainability strategy forums.

Build ownership and accountability among site leadership teams for HSE and sustainability outcomes.

Foster a culture of Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) and employee engagement.

Operational Excellence:

Monitor HSE & sustainability KPIs across all Indian sites (TRIR, LTIFR, near misses, emissions, waste, water usage).

Lead incident investigations (RCA) and ensure implementation of preventive actions.

Strengthen crisis management and emergency response readiness.

Drive environmental performance improvements (pollution prevention, emission controls, sustainability projects).

Deliver structured HSE & sustainability performance reviews to senior and global leadership.
