Our firm is currently looking for a Construction Cost Estimator to be located in the Los Angeles, CA area. In this role you will be dedicated to educational construction projects to ensure estimates and budgets align with the owner's requirements for the projects. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of one of the largest school bond programs in the country, supporting the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Prepares preliminary and final independent detailed cost estimates JOC/Formal Construction contracts managed by M&O to establish negotiating position as required by change order procedures. Provides support in price negotiations. Prepares claim analyses and estimates. Prepares detailed estimates of construction costs based on drawings, specifications and sketches, square footages, using standard estimating data and tools. Reviews contractor's claims and proposals for merit and accountability. Performs related duties as assigned. Knowledge & Skills Required: Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs. Extensive experience in developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders. Ability to compare the independent cost estimate with contractor proposal to quickly identify differences. Ability to develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC answers and estimates the detailed costs of those scopes of work independent of the contractor proposal. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Required Education and Experience: BS in Construction Management, Engineering, QS, Architecture, or related field is required. Minimum of 7 years full time paid professional experience in construction cost estimating of all divisions for facilities or school building construction projects. The salary range for this full-time role is $120,200.00-$160,266.69 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package.
