About the Role

This role is responsible for providing independent Line 2 oversight of credit risk across property finance and retail lending portfolios. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, the Credit Risk Manager ensures lending activities align with the organisation’s Risk Appetite Statement, regulatory obligations and internal credit policies. The position plays a critical role in credit policy governance, portfolio risk management and providing expert challenge on complex or non‑standard credit decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent Line 2 credit risk oversight, challenge and guidance across lending portfolios.
  • Support senior management through high‑quality credit risk reporting, insights and recommendations.
  • Oversee credit risk policies, frameworks and assurance activities to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, emerging risks and credit quality trends, escalating issues as required.
  • Review and challenge high‑value, complex or non‑standard credit applications.
  • Oversee exceptions, waivers and non‑standard structures to identify systemic risks.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, regulatory reviews and assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Line 1 teams on portfolio analysis, stress testing and provisioning review.
  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders across Risk, Lending and Executive teams.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Risk or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in credit risk management within financial services.
  • Experience across property finance and/or retail lending portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk principles, portfolio management and lending regulation.
  • Proven experience in credit policy development, governance and risk frameworks.
  • Strong analytical capability with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and business writing skills.
