We at our Essar UK Services GCC office, Navi Mumbai are looking for a Crude Indifference Manager.
The Crude Indifference Manager is responsible for conducting comprehensive analytical evaluation of crude oils and managing the crude assay database for the refinery. This role involves detailed characterization of crude oils, interpretation of laboratory data, and providing technical support for crude selection and processing decisions. The incumbent will collaborate with multiple departments to optimize crude slate selection and refinery operations based on crude quality parameters. The position requires expertise in analytical chemistry, refinery processes, and data analysis to deliver accurate crude oil characterization and recommendations for process optimization.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Manage and execute crude oil assay testing programs, ensuring comprehensive characterization of various crude oils
- Analyse and interpret laboratory data to determine crude oil properties, yields, and quality parameters
- Maintain and update the crude assay database with latest analytical data and historical processing information
- Develop and validate crude oil property correlations and blending models
- Provide technical support for crude selection decisions by evaluating crude compatibility and processing implications
- Collaborate with process engineers to optimize refinery operations based on crude quality parameters
- Monitor and analyse the impact of crude quality variations on refinery unit operations and product quality
- Prepare detailed technical reports on crude oil characteristics and their process implications
- Support economic evaluation of new crude opportunities by providing detailed quality assessments
- Evaluate and recommend crude oil blending strategies to optimize processing and product quality
- Coordinate with external laboratories for specialized crude analysis and quality verification
- Stay updated with industry standards, analytical methods, and regulatory requirements related to crude quality.
Functional Skills:
- Strong expertise in crude oil analysis and characterization techniques
- Proficiency in laboratory analytical methods and testing protocols
- Knowledge of refinery processes and their relationship with crude properties
- Experience with crude assay data management systems and databases
- Strong skills in statistical analysis and data interpretation
- Proficiency in analytical software and modelling tools
- Understanding of crude oil chemistry and behaviour in refining processes
- Experience with crude compatibility and stability assessment
- Knowledge of industry standards (ASTM, IP) for petroleum testing
- Expertise in crude oil property correlations and blend calculations

Qualifications & Experience:

- 8+ years of experience in crude oil analysis, characterization, or similar roles in refineries
- Experience with crude assay database management and modelling
- Proven expertise in interpreting complex analytical data
- Knowledge of refinery processes and crude quality impacts
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
