Opportunity
This role is based at SA‑Osborne Naval Shipyard & SA‑Mawson Lakes, reporting to the CSI‑IPT Test and Commissioning Lead. We embrace flexible work arrangements, such as a 9‑day fortnight.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing, repairing, commissioning and maintaining external radio/satellite communications systems and equipment in line with company and contractual requirements.
- Providing technical input into the design, development and implementation of systems.
- Carrying out hands‑on activities including installation, set‑to‑work, acceptance testing and ongoing maintenance to ensure systems meet defined technical and performance requirements.
- Setting to work, testing, integrating and commissioning external communications systems and equipment.
- Providing technical oversight and hands‑on support for Test and Commissioning activities.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation, including test procedures and reports.
- Delivering expert technical support to projects, including fault finding, defect resolution and technical reporting.
- Contributing technical input to system design activities, planning and maintenance schedules.
- Working autonomously on complex technical tasks within established procedures and safety requirements.
- Acting as the technical focal point for discipline‑specific activities and supporting continuous improvement.
- Complying with company quality systems and working within agreed technical, cost and schedule constraints while collaborating effectively with the Test and Commissioning team.
About You
- Certificate III in Electronics and Communication or a related field.
- Strong technical expertise in radio and satellite communication equipment.
- Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Confident team player who actively contributes to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of the quality, safety and timely delivery of your work.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, engaging professionally with engineers, customers and stakeholders.
- Analytical and improvement‑focused, with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
- Willing and available to travel interstate or offshore for installation and maintenance activities.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
