Customs Specialist TCRS4613 HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW The Customs Specialist supports import compliance and FTZ operations by preparing customs documentation, classifying goods, tracking shipments, and supporting audits. This role works closely with internal teams, brokers, and government agencies to ensure timely release of shipments, regulatory compliance, and identification of duty savings opportunities. This is a hybrid position with 3 days a week in office based near Romeoville, IL. EXPECTATIONS Prepare, review, and file import documentation including FTZ admissions (CBP Form 214) Track and coordinate shipments with carriers, freight forwarders, and CFS facilities to prevent delays Maintain accurate customs data and records in AS400 ERP and Questa Web systems Determine proper HTS classification, duty rates, and OGA compliance requirements Identify and support duty savings initiatives including FTAs, exemptions, and drawback programs Audit customs entries and documentation to prevent errors, penalties, and PSCs Support CBP inquiries, CF 28/29 responses, and FTZ annual reviews Assist with compliance reporting, training initiatives, and process improvements ESSENTIALS Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialists preferred High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred 3-5 years’ experience with customs compliance, brokerage operations, and FTZ & consumption entries In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and import/export documentation Ability to stay current on changes to import and export laws and regulations Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with an ownership mindset Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software tools Experience with Descartes/Questa Web, AS400, or similar FTZ/ERP systems preferred
