Cyber Security Engineer

Role Overview

This role is based in Newcastle and requires 3 days in the office, so you must be based in Newcastle or willing to relocate.

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will:

• Operate and enhance Microsoft 365 security controls, including anti-phishing, Safe Links, Safe Attachments, and Microsoft Defender (Office 365 / Endpoint / Identity / Cloud Apps).
• Maintain and optimise Conditional Access policy baselines and identity hygiene across the enterprise.
• Build and manage Microsoft Purview DLP policies across M365 workloads, supporting proactive monitoring and incident response.
• Assist the Data Governance team by configuring and maintaining sensitivity labels and auto-labelling policies.
• Secure Microsoft 365 Copilot deployments by validating data protection guardrails and supporting readiness activities.
• Maximise the value of the organisation’s Microsoft 365 E5 security investment through smart adoption, tool rationalisation, and clear reporting metrics.
• Support Power Platform security governance through DLP policy configuration and remediation of findings.

Skills & Experience

• 3+ years’ experience managing and optimising Microsoft 365 security controls in an enterprise environment.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Defender suite (Office 365, Endpoint, Identity, Cloud Apps).
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Purview DLP, Information Protection, and sensitivity labelling.
• Understanding of identity and access management principles, Conditional Access, and governance.
• Experience supporting secure M365 Copilot deployments and Power Platform DLP policies.
• Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft E5 licensing capabilities, adoption, and reporting.
