The IB PYP Dance Teacher will deliver a child-centered, inquiry-based dance program that fosters physical coordination, creative expression, and cultural appreciation. The role focuses on developing the "Learner Profile" through movement, encouraging students to be risk-takers and communicators. The teacher will be responsible for making dance a transdisciplinary tool that supports student inquiry while building a strong foundation in dance technique and performance. Key Responsibilities 1. Teaching & Learning (PYP-Aligned) Plan and deliver inquiry-based dance lessons that align with the PYP philosophy of student agency. Develop gross motor skills, flexibility, and spatial awareness appropriate for primary learners. Integrate dance into Units of Inquiry (UOI), allowing students to explore central ideas through physical movement. Differentiate instruction to support diverse physical abilities and learning styles within the dance studio. 2. Curriculum & Creative Development Design engaging activities that build a vocabulary of movement, body language, and choreographic structures. Promote appreciation of global cultures and traditions through diverse dance forms. Encourage meaningful communication through improvisation, storytelling through dance, and collaborative group tasks. 3. Assessment & Documentation Use formative assessment strategies (like peer feedback and self-reflection) aligned with PYP practices. Document learning evidence through anecdotal records, video portfolios, and photo displays of the creative process. Provide constructive feedback that focuses on the student's growth in expression and technique. 4. Collaboration & School Engagement Collaborate with homeroom teachers, the PYP Coordinator, and specialists for transdisciplinary learning. Participate in collaborative planning meetings, school events, assemblies, and the PYP Exhibition. Support school-wide initiatives related to well-being, physical health, and cultural celebrations through dance. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Dance or a professional diploma in Performing Arts from a recognized institution. IB-PYP training or previous exposure to an IB school environment is a significant added advantage. Eligibility & Experience Requirements Minimum 5 years of total teaching experience Compulsory. Minimum 2 years of experience in Primary classes (PYP) dance instruction Preferred. Positions are open for experienced candidates only. Freshers need not apply. Desired Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of the IB PYP framework and inquiry-based pedagogy. Excellent communication and classroom management skills for young children. Passion for holistic and experiential learning through the arts. Ability to work collaboratively in an international school environment. Commitment to continuous professional growth and IB-authorized workshops. Employment Commitment Requirement This is a full-time, on-campus role requiring complete professional commitment. Concurrent employment, freelance work, or private tuition during the academic year is not permitted. Pursuing any regular academic programme (full-time or part-time) that interferes with school responsibilities is not permissible. Candidates must be able to fully dedicate their time and professional focus to the school and students. Any short-term or online certifications must be disclosed at the time of application. • Bachelor’s Degree in Dance / Performing Arts / Fine Arts (preferred) • Diploma or Certification in Indian Classical / Folk / Contemporary / Western Dance • IB-PYP Training or Workshop Exposure (preferred) • Experience teaching primary years (ages 3–11) in IB or international schools is an advantage
