Special Olympics is founded on the belief that persons with intellectual disabilities learn, enjoy, and benefit from participation in year-round individual and team sports training and competition. Today, more than 6 million children and adults with intellectual disabilities participate in over 100,000 games and competitions in over 190 countries. Special Olympics International (SOI) leads this work through offices in 7 locations around the world. The Asia Pacific Regional Office is located in Singapore and is responsible for 35 countries spanning Afghanistan, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Japan and the Pacific region.



Position Summary:


As a member of staff with Special Olympics Asia Pacific, your role as a Business Systems Analyst is to design and support the development of local data management, data governance and practices to ultimately improve outcomes for the athletes we serve, enabling rapid and efficient research, informing business decisions, managing risk, and responding to and developing technology-driven solutions to address the needs of Special Olympics, at local and international level. You will be tasked with supporting the regional office to develop:



  • stronger insight into the issues and challenges that people with ID face

  • clearer insight into programmatic effectiveness to improve technology project design

  • accessible data that is easy to understand, translate and utilize both internally and externally to support advocacy and campaigns


Responsibilities:




  • Work closely with Special Olympics stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to shape Special Olympics Asia Pacific data strategy and management and support the regional technology roadmap.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Special Olympics program/operations staff to help inform and align technical goals with user needs.

  • Support and guide the implementation of data governance and the management of data quality, reference and master data, and metadata.

  • Support and guide the development of data capture solutions and technology, including athlete and volunteer data systems as well as operational business data.

  • Ensure Special Olympics Regional Office and Programs business processes and capabilities aligns with Special Olympics International data management strategy and processes

  • Provide recommendations and input to data governance metrics and report improvements and opportunities.

  • Work directly with country programs to coordinate technology development and data capture.



Disposition:


You will work directly with technology, data, and program/operations staff and senior volunteers across the globe, and across data and technology business units to support critical decision making, research objectives, and improve the services we provide to athletes. You must be a self-starter and enjoy working in a fast-paced and fluid environment with people from a variety of different backgrounds.


You must be willing to adopt a growth mindset and be looking to stretch and develop your skills constantly. You have to like being challenged and you have to be able to work across multiple projects and departments with a genuine flair for enterprise within a social/community context.


Essential Skills & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related technical field, and with equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role, with a focus on data management and solutions.

  • Strong understanding of data management and data governance, and experience with data collection and integration systems.

  • Familiarity with data architecture, customer solutions architecture, and/or data engineering. 

  • Strong customer-facing experience translating technical concepts and solutions to non-technical and executive audiences.

  • Experience with CRM, lightweight data capture systems, and offline field data capture.


Desirable Qualifications:



  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, etc.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.

  • Ability to lead strategic initiatives.
