Job Title: Data Architect
Location: Perth, WA (Hybrid)
Employment Type: 12-Month Contract (day rate flexible)
About the Role
My client is seeking a Data Architect to define the organisation-wide data plan and lead Master Data Management in a full Microsoft environment. You’ll design scalable, secure, high-performing solutions on Azure/Microsoft Fabric that support analytics, reporting, and future AI initiatives. The role works closely with stakeholders and technical teams to align architecture with business needs while embedding governance and integration best practice.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the organisation’s data plan and target data architecture.
- Lead MDM to establish golden records, data quality rules, and stewardship.
- Design scalable data models, pipelines, and storage (Lakehouse, Delta tables, semantic models).
- Build and optimise solutions in Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouses, Spark notebooks, Power BI).
- Oversee integration of data across ERP/CRM and other platforms (e.g., Dynamics 365, Oracle).
- Ensure security, compliance, and governance (RBAC, lineage, cataloguing) are built in.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into architectural designs.
- Guide data engineers/analysts to deliver reliable, consistent data products; produce clear documentation.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Architect
- Strong knowledge of Azure Data Services and Microsoft Fabric (essential).
- Expertise in relational and non-relational design; solid SQL and data modelling.
- Hands-on with ETL/ELT and orchestration (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Fabric pipelines).
- Understanding of data governance, data quality, security, and MDM frameworks.
- Power BI and semantic modelling experience; Python/Spark familiarity advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; healthcare/public sector exposure a plus.
