GCP DATA ENGINEER - Contract (Long term)
4–5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with hands-on support for Google Looker.
Strong experience in data modeling and building data marts.
Proficiency in ETL/ELT pipeline development and SQL performance tuning.
Experience with Look ML and semantic layer design in Looker.
Familiarity with healthcare data and reporting requirements.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
We are hiring a Data Engineer to support the backend infrastructure for a major reporting migration from Tableau to Google Looker. This role will be responsible for designing and building scalable data models, data marts, and ETL/ELT pipelines to support the migration of 2,000 reports. The engineer will work closely with analysts and stakeholders to ensure data is structured for efficient reporting in Looker. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and implement scalable data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support analytics.
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into the data warehouse.
Develop and optimize Big Query (or equivalent) data structures for reporting.
Collaborate with Data Analysts to ensure data marts support Looker dashboards and visualizations.
Create and maintain Look ML models and define the semantic layer in Looker.
Tune SQL queries for performance and scalability.
Ensure data integrity and consistency across migrated reports.
