JMT, is currently ranked 60 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms. JMT is looking for a passionate leader to join our existing Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina office. The selected candidate will manage our local talented team of engineers and scientists as they deliver key infrastructure projects throughout South Carolina and the greater southeast. The Engineering Branch Manager to be responsible for office operations including the formulation of business, marketing, and strategic plans. The successful candidate will also act as local client manager and liaison, supervise staff, collaborate, with regional offices, and coordinate with corporate Leadership. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES BUSINESS MANAGEMENT Define and carry out the office strategic growth, marketing, and financial objectives established in coordination with JMT Regional and Corporate Management Develop and review proposals, contracts, scope of work, fee proposals, and project set-up as consistent with JMT’s policies and procedures. Responsible to monitor and manage work-in-process for delivery to contractual and financial expectations. Review and approve invoices, monitor outstanding accounts receivable, and assist with initial collection efforts. Coordinate assignment of staff labor in support of local, regional, and corporate-wide project needs. Report to, and coordinate with, JMT Senior Management on the performance of the branch office. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT Forecast administrative, staffing, and facility needs for office. Responsible for staff recruiting, hiring, and integration to the branch office and region. Develop and mentor staff by arranging training, appraising performance, rewarding and correcting behaviors, addressing and resolving issues. Conduct resource management by assigning and directing staff to required project work. Educate staff on Project Management principles to achieve on-time and on-budget project delivery. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm’s policies and applicable laws. ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT Maintain professional licensure in the state of residence and be responsible for supervising production of JMT work products by appropriately licensed staff. Ability to seal/sign documents for projects within candidate’s realm of expertise. Review the design and production work of staff to ensure that it meets industry professional standards, client expectations, and is in conformance with company standards. Provide technical guidance to staff for successful project execution. CLIENT AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES Maintaining existing, and develop new, client relationships. Maintain close liaison with clients to ensure successful project delivery. Identify and support expansion of company services into new markets Be active in professional organizations. Travel to and participate in relevant conferences and trade events. NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Ability to become a Registered Engineer in the state of South Carolina 15 years of industry experience including supervisory, project management, and client relations Master’s degree, or advanced studies, in Engineering, Business/Management, or related field preferred WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
