Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance professional with strong expertise in Alation Data Catalog to design, implement, and manage enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. The role will focus on improving data trust, accessibility, quality, and compliance across business and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

Data Governance & Frameworks

• Design and implement Data Governance operating models , policies, and standards.
• Define and manage data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models .
• Ensure alignment of governance initiatives with business objectives.

Alation Data Catalog

• Lead hands-on implementation and administration of Alation Data Catalog .
• Configure metadata ingestion, business glossaries, data lineage, stewardship workflows, and trust scores .
• Manage integration of Alation with databases, data lakes, data warehouses, BI, and ETL tools.

Metadata & Data Quality Management

• Establish and maintain technical, business, and operational metadata .
• Drive data quality profiling, rules definition, monitoring, and issue resolution .
• Collaborate with engineering teams to remediate data quality issues.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Product Owners, and Architecture teams .
• Conduct user training, enablement sessions, and documentation to increase Alation adoption.
• Act as a SME for data governance tools, processes, and best practices.

Compliance & Risk

• Support data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Implement data classification, sensitivity tagging, and access controls .
• Assist in audits and regulatory reporting requirements where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have

• 7–12 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Metadata Management .
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Alation Data Catalog .
• Strong knowledge of:
• Data Governance frameworks
• Metadata management and data lineage
• Data stewardship and operating models
• Data quality concepts and tooling
• Solid understanding of SQL and enterprise data platforms .
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments .
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with other governance tools (Collibra, Informatica Axon, Apache Atlas).
• Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of BFSI or regulated industry environments .
• Familiarity with Agile / SAFe delivery models.
